I grew up on breeches and jodhpurs, probably more so for the fact that riding tights weren't available yet or unknown to me. Mind you - we are talking 20 years plus ago. Riding primarily in a colder climate, the thicker material was great (or so I thought) and it did not feel to restrictive either. Hey, I was wearing jeans all day when I wasn't riding, so breeches or jodhs were comfort plus. Oh how naïve I was lol

I still remember rocking up to my first riding lesson back in humid, hot, tropical Cairns - wearing my tan coloured jodhs, looking great, feeling great and about 5 minutes later resembling more a chocolate bar that was left on the dashboard of the car than a human being. In all honesty, I don't have any idea how I kept riding in them.

It was definitely a case of not knowing what I was missing out on until I did!

Off I went searching for alternatives. Most of the other girls were wearing riding tights so I took the plunge and got myself a pair. Needless to say I loved them.

But coming back to my original question - can riding tights really stand up to the good old joddies? Personally, I believe breeches and jodhs are a thing of the past. Riding tights can stand up to the wear and tear, are less restrictive and hence a lot more comfortable. You just can't beat tights that feel like a second skin. Unfortunately, not all riding tights are created equal and having owned a few different brands now, I definitely knew what to avoid and where to improve.

Phone pockets are an absolute must these days. (Anyone else who puts their phone in their pocket to stream music while riding...?) Not to forget - should you and your horse ever involuntarily separate, you have your phone on you and not attached to the saddle pad somewhere - gone in the wind with your (traitorous) bestie.

Ever bought a pair of riding tights were the sticky seat falls off or looses it's grip after ride 2? Or the 'high' waistband that turns into a pool floaty around your waist while your concentrating on your next movement in your lesson?

Not with Pure Canter - we have made sure our tights go above and beyond. They'll do what they are meant to do, which leaves you free to ride and enjoy. And if you are considering a pair of PURE tights, regardless of buying your first pair or your 5th - we are always happy to answer any questions or receive product improvement suggestions and ideas.
